Google Docs
To dictate in Google Docs, open a document in Chrome, Edge, or Safari, choose Tools > Voice typing, click the microphone, and speak; for one-hotkey dictation that also works beyond Docs, use WhisperJot in the focused text field.

Gmail has no built-in desktop dictation feature. You can dictate in its compose box with macOS Dictation, Windows voice typing, an Android keyboard such as Gboard, or WhisperJot, which sends cleaned-up speech straight to the focused email field from one desktop hotkey.

To dictate an Outlook email, start a new message or reply, select Message > Dictate, wait for the listening indicator, and speak. The connected Microsoft feature is available in supported Outlook versions; WhisperJot adds an offline local option, per-app email tone, and reusable history.

Microsoft Teams desktop does not include a dictation control for composing chats. WhatsApp Desktop has no speech-to-text into the chat box; the composer microphone sends an audio voice message. Dictate typed chats with macOS Dictation, Windows voice typing, or WhisperJot. Discord has no speech-to-text for composing on desktop or web. Its Text-to-Speech feature reads typed messages aloud, which is the reverse of dictation. Put the cursor in a message box and use OS dictation or WhisperJot; voice messages can be sent only from the mobile app.

To dictate in ChatGPT, click the microphone icon in the composer, speak, and edit the text before sending. That Dictation control is separate from ChatGPT Voice. It works only inside ChatGPT and needs internet; WhisperJot instead types into whichever desktop app currently has focus.

On Claude Desktop for Mac, enable Quick Entry dictation in Settings > General, then use Caps Lock to start and stop speech-to-text. The claude.ai web composer has no documented dictation button, so use OS dictation or WhisperJot there. Anthropic's Voice mode is a separate two-way conversation feature.

Desktop Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Linux has no built-in dictation for arbitrary text fields. Google Docs Voice typing works in Chrome for Docs and Slides speaker notes, and operating-system dictation or WhisperJot can fill any focused Chrome field from a global hotkey.
