Google Docs
To dictate in Google Docs, open a document in Chrome, Edge, or Safari, choose Tools > Voice typing, click the microphone, and speak; for one-hotkey dictation that also works beyond Docs, use WhisperJot in the focused text field.

To dictate in Microsoft Word, open a document, choose Home > Dictate, wait for the microphone to start listening, and speak. Microsoft 365 subscribers can use this cloud feature, while WhisperJot offers a global hotkey and local transcription that also works outside Word.

Gmail has no built-in desktop dictation feature. You can dictate in its compose box with macOS Dictation, Windows voice typing, an Android keyboard such as Gboard, or WhisperJot, which sends cleaned-up speech straight to the focused email field from one desktop hotkey.
