Gmail has no built-in desktop dictation feature. You can dictate in its compose box with macOS Dictation, Windows voice typing, an Android keyboard such as Gboard, or WhisperJot, which sends cleaned-up speech straight to the focused email field from one desktop hotkey.

Gmail does not provide its own dictation control on desktop; Google's Voice typing is documented for Docs and Slides, not Gmail. The honest desktop workarounds are macOS Dictation or Windows voice typing with Win+H, both of which treat the compose area like another text box. On Android, Google documents Gboard voice typing in most apps, including Gmail. Third-party Chrome dictation extensions also exist, but they are not Google features.

Can you dictate in Gmail on a computer?

Does Google Voice typing work in Gmail?
