For Apple Silicon Macs

A dictation app
built for Mac

WhisperJot is a dictation app for Mac that adds live partials, voice commands, custom vocabulary, and per-app tone. It is private by default and works offline with Apple Silicon local engines, all in one $99/year plan.

Made for macOS

A complete desktop dictation workflow.

Talk from any focused app

Press ⌥Space or hold fn, speak naturally, and WhisperJot places the text where your cursor is without requiring an extension.

See live partial text

A floating HUD shows partial text while you are still speaking, giving you immediate feedback before the final transcription lands.

Commands and custom words

Use voice commands such as new paragraph and teach custom vocabulary the names, jargon, and specialized terms that matter to your work.

A tone for each app

Set per-app preferences so a quick message and a polished document can follow different cleanup and tone choices.

Apple Silicon, on-device

The local engines use your Apple Silicon Mac for private-by-default transcription and continue working when you are offline.

Questions

Straight answers for macOS.

Does WhisperJot for Mac work offline and keep dictation private?

Yes. WhisperJot is private by default, and its local engines transcribe on your Apple Silicon Mac after the model download, even without internet. Jot Cloud is opt-in, operates only while selected, and audio is never stored on our servers.

What are the Mac system requirements for WhisperJot?

WhisperJot requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and an Apple Silicon processor, starting with M1; Intel Macs are not supported. The minimum is 8 GB unified memory and about 3 GB of free disk space, while 16 GB and 10 GB of free space are recommended.

How is WhisperJot different from the built-in dictation on macOS?

Both turn speech into text from a convenient system-level workflow. WhisperJot goes further with live partials, offline local engine choices, voice commands, custom vocabulary, per-app tone and injection settings, and searchable transcription history stored locally.

How much does the Mac dictation app cost, and is Windows included?

One $99/year plan covers macOS, Windows, and Linux, rather than charging separately for each supported platform. There is no free tier. You can try the 30-second browser demo before subscribing to hear how WhisperJot handles a short sample.
