Yes. WhisperJot offers a hands-free mode that listens until voice-activity detection identifies silence, reducing the need to touch the keyboard. A dentist can also hold the global hotkey for push-to-talk or tap it for toggle mode, depending on the room and workflow.
Can dental dictation recognize words like mesial and buccal?
WhisperJot supports user-taught custom vocabulary for recurring dental terms. Add words such as mesial, buccal, and periapical so custom vocabulary correction can produce the spelling you taught it. It does not promise a medical-vocabulary accuracy rate, so review every draft before using it.
Can I dictate into dental charting software without a plugin?
Yes. WhisperJot types into whatever desktop app has focus, so you can place the cursor in a charting field, browser form, document, or email and dictate there. No plugin or direct integration is needed, and per-app overrides can change how text is injected when necessary.
Is dental dictation processed on the practice computer?
With the local engines (the default), audio is transcribed on your machine and nothing is uploaded. History stays in a local SQLite database. If you choose Jot Cloud, it is opt-in, used only while selected, and audio is never stored on our servers.
