For nurses, NPs & care teams

Move documentation forward
between patients

WhisperJot helps nurses and nurse practitioners dictate shift documentation, handoff notes, and care-plan drafts into any focused charting or document app. The global hotkey starts dictation quickly, while local engines keep the default workflow on the computer and available offline.

Why voice helps

The work is thinking, not typing.

Every gap has a deadline

Documentation has to move forward between patients, handoffs, and changing priorities, often in minutes too fragmented for comfortable typing.

The work spans many text fields

Shift notes, handoff drafts, and care plans may live in different parts of a charting system or document workflow.

Typing slows the thought down

A clear spoken summary can arrive faster than the same idea can be entered one key at a time at a workstation.

Example workflow

Faster drafts across a shift

One possible day with WhisperJot โ€” adapt it to the tools and routines you already use.

  1. Between patients, put the cursor in the relevant charting field and hold the hotkey to dictate a short documentation draft.
  2. Use 'bullet point' or 'new paragraph' to organize a generic handoff-note draft, then review every line in the charting app.
  3. For a longer care-plan draft, switch to toggle mode and watch live partial text in the floating HUD while speaking.
  4. At shift end, dictate any remaining generic summary text into the appropriate focused field and complete the usual review process.
Built for the flow

Dictation that fits the way you work.

Start with one hotkey

Press โŒฅSpace on Mac or Ctrl+Alt+Space on Windows/Linux to dictate into the focused field. Push-to-talk, toggle, and hands-free modes fit different workstation routines.

Works across documentation apps

WhisperJot types into whatever desktop app has focus, from browser text fields to charting screens and documents. No plugin or integration is needed.

Structure notes by voice

Say commands such as 'new paragraph' or 'bullet point' while automatic capitalization, punctuation, and filler-word removal prepare an editable draft.

On-machine processing by default

With the local engines (the default), audio is transcribed on your machine and nothing is uploaded. Local transcription continues without internet access.

Align with your workplace rules

Have your organization's privacy or compliance team assess WhisperJot and the proposed nursing-documentation workflow against its own requirements.

Questions

Straight answers.

Can nurses dictate directly into charting software?

Yes. WhisperJot types into whatever desktop app has focus, including generic charting fields, browser text boxes, and documents. Put the cursor in the destination, use the global hotkey, and speak. It works through text injection rather than a plugin or a partner integration.

Can nurse practitioners use dictation for care-plan drafts?

Yes. Nurse practitioners can dictate care-plan drafts, handoff notes, and other shift documentation into the focused app. Voice commands such as 'new paragraph' and 'bullet point' help organize the draft, while automatic punctuation and capitalization reduce initial cleanup. Review remains part of the documentation workflow.

Does nursing dictation work offline at a workstation?

Yes. Jot Local and Jot Local Pro transcribe on the workstation without an internet connection after the models download on first use. The local models require roughly 2.3 GB. Jot Cloud requires a connection and is opt-in, used only while selected, with audio never stored on our servers.

Where are dictated handoff notes stored?

WhisperJot stores transcription history in a local SQLite database on the user's machine. With the local engines (the default), audio is transcribed there and nothing is uploaded. An optional opt-in cloud library can sync transcripts and titles, never audio, and its contents can be deleted.

What desktop platforms support WhisperJot for nurses?

WhisperJot is stable on macOS 14+ for Apple Silicon and Windows 10+ for x64. Linux builds for Debian and Ubuntu on x64 and arm64 are in beta. The $99/year plan includes unlimited dictation across all supported platforms. WhisperJot is a desktop app, not a phone or tablet app.

Give your hands a break.

One hotkey, any focused app, and private local transcription by default.
