For therapists, counselors & private practices

Turn a quiet moment
into a finished draft

WhisperJot helps therapists and counselors dictate progress-note drafts between clients, directly into the focused documentation app. Because session content is especially sensitive, the local engines are the default: audio is transcribed on your machine, nothing is uploaded, and the workflow works offline.

Why voice helps

The work is thinking, not typing.

The gap between clients is short

A useful progress-note draft competes with preparation, a reset, and the clock before the next session begins.

Session content is deeply sensitive

Therapists need to understand where spoken material is processed and where the resulting transcript is kept.

One voice, different writing contexts

Formal progress notes and everyday email need different tones, even when both are drafted from the same desk.

Example workflow

Progress-note drafts between clients

One possible day with WhisperJot — adapt it to the tools and routines you already use.

  1. After a session, open the appropriate blank note and place the cursor where the draft should begin.
  2. Use push-to-talk or toggle mode to dictate a structured summary, adding section breaks with the 'new paragraph' command.
  3. Watch live partial text in the floating HUD, then read and revise the complete draft in the documentation app.
  4. When writing an email later, dictate in the mail app and let the per-app tone setting reflect that less formal context.
Built for the flow

Dictation that fits the way you work.

Sensitive drafts stay local by default

Jot Local and Jot Local Pro process audio on your computer, keep transcription available offline, and store history in a local SQLite database.

Tone that follows the app

Per-app tone adaptation can shape formal documentation differently from email, while WhisperJot continues typing into whichever app has focus.

Speech becomes an editable draft

Filler-word removal, capitalization, punctuation, and commands such as 'new paragraph' reduce the first round of cleanup without replacing review.

See the words as you speak

A floating HUD shows a waveform and live partial text, giving you a chance to notice the draft taking shape before the dictation ends.

Confirm your privacy process

Review the intended note-taking workflow with your own privacy or compliance team so it matches the requirements of your practice and setting.

Questions

Straight answers.

Is voice dictation private enough for therapy progress notes?

WhisperJot is private by default: with the local engines (the default), audio is transcribed on your machine and nothing is uploaded. Transcript history is stored in a local SQLite database. Each practice should still evaluate its intended workflow, device controls, and documentation rules before using any dictation app.

Can therapists dictate progress notes between clients?

Yes. Place the cursor in the relevant documentation app, press the global hotkey, and dictate a progress-note draft without moving text from a separate transcription window. Automatic punctuation, filler-word removal, and voice commands can shape the draft, which should be reviewed and edited afterward.

Can dictation use a formal tone for notes and a casual tone for email?

Yes. WhisperJot provides per-app tone adaptation, so the writing style used in a formal note can differ from the style used in an email app. It types into whatever app has focus, and per-app overrides can also control the method used to inject text.

Can counseling notes be dictated without internet access?

Yes. Jot Local and Jot Local Pro work without an internet connection after their first-use model download. Jot Cloud is an opt-in engine for users who choose cloud processing; it operates only while selected, and audio is never stored on our servers.

Does WhisperJot sync therapy note transcripts to the cloud?

Not by default. History is stored in a local SQLite database on the user's computer. A separate cloud library is optional and opt-in; when enabled, it syncs transcript text and titles only, never audio, and the synced contents can be deleted.

Give your hands a break.

One hotkey, any focused app, and private local transcription by default.
