Download and manage speech models
Local engines download a model on first use. Settings → Model shows Download Now and progress. Jot Local is about 500 MB on macOS and about 460 MB to download on Windows and Linux. The opt-in Jot Cloud engine downloads nothing.

Jot Local is about 500 MB on macOS. On Windows and Linux it is about 460 MB to download and about 600 MB on disk. The opt-in Jot Cloud engine downloads nothing. Models download on first use; Settings → Model shows Download Now and a progress display.
On macOS, Jot Local Pro default large-v3-turbo is 1.5 GB. Other Whisper options include large-v3-turbo compressed at 626 MB, small.en at 500 MB, small.en compressed at 217 MB, base.en at 150 MB, and tiny.en at 80 MB. Windows and Linux Jot Local Pro default to the small model.
macOS stores Parakeet under ~/Library/Application Support/FluidAudio/Models/, WhisperKit models under ~/Documents/huggingface/models/argmaxinc/whisperkit-coreml/, and app data under ~/Library/Application Support/WhisperJot/. Windows stores models in %LOCALAPPDATA%\WhisperJot\models. Linux uses ~/.local/share/WhisperJot/models, overridable with WHISPERJOT_MODEL_DIR.
How do I remove unused models and download them again?
On macOS, open Settings → Model → Unused models → Remove. That deletes non-selected Jot Local Pro models. They re-download if you select them again. Jot Local is not touched by that control.
On Windows, use the Remove unused Whisper models button. On Linux, delete the models folder manually. Selecting an engine or model again downloads it on next use.

The opt-in Jot Cloud engine downloads nothing.
How do I free disk space used by WhisperJot models?
On macOS, Settings → Model → Unused models → Remove deletes non-selected Jot Local Pro models only; Jot Local stays. On Windows, use Remove unused Whisper models. On Linux, delete the models folder manually. Choosing a model later re-downloads it. The app warns when free space is below the model size plus 3 GB on Mac; it does not block you.
