How to record a meeting in WhisperJot

Meetings capture only your microphone — WhisperJot does not join calls or record the other side's system audio. Transcription is always on-device, with a six-hour cap per meeting and Markdown or plain-text export.

What does WhisperJot record in a meeting?

Meetings are microphone only. The app does not join calls and does not capture the other side's system audio. There are no AI summaries and no speaker labels. That makes it a fit for in-person meetings, interviews, lectures, and your side of calls — not for a full two-sided conference capture.

Transcription is always on-device. The opt-in Jot Cloud engine is never used for Meetings. Dictation and meetings cannot run at the same time. Each meeting is capped at six hours.

How do I export a meeting after I stop recording?

Export Markdown (.md) or plain text (.txt), copy timestamped lines, or reveal the WAV on disk. You can rename or delete a meeting. Optional cloud library sync is opt-in and syncs text, titles, and timestamps — never audio.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does WhisperJot join Zoom or Meet as a bot?

No. Meetings use the microphone on your computer. WhisperJot does not join the call as a participant and does not capture system audio from the other side. Use it for in-person rooms, interviews, lectures, or your side of a call. There are no AI summaries and no speaker labels. Transcription stays on-device for the whole meeting.

Can I dictate and record a meeting at the same time?

No. Dictation and meetings cannot run at the same time. Stop one before you start the other. Each meeting also has a six-hour cap. The opt-in Jot Cloud engine is never used for Meetings; if Cloud is selected for dictation, a meeting still falls back to a cached local model. Export Markdown or plain text when you finish.

Does WhisperJot write an AI summary of the meeting?

No. You get a timestamped transcript you can export as Markdown or plain text, copy as timestamped lines, or keep alongside the WAV on disk. There are no AI summaries and no speaker labels. Optional cloud library sync, if you opt in, syncs text, titles, and timestamps and never sends the audio. Rename or delete meetings from History when you are done.
