Meeting notes
without the bot

WhisperJot turns what your microphone can hear into a live transcript with timestamps — ideal for in-person meetings, interviews, lectures, and standups in a room. Meeting transcription always runs on-device with the local engines on macOS, Windows, and Linux (beta).

How it works

Stay in the conversation.

Start the recording, watch the transcript take shape, and leave the note-taking to WhisperJot.

  1. Start a meeting. Open it from the app — or the menu bar on macOS — give it an editable title, and confirm your mic level.
  2. Follow the live transcript. Timestamped segments appear as you speak, with a live partial line that keeps updating.
  3. Pause and resume when needed. The elapsed timer keeps you oriented, and the app auto-pauses if the computer sleeps or the microphone disconnects.
  4. Stop and take the notes with you. Export Markdown or plain text, or copy timestamped lines. The full audio stays on your machine.

Product behavior checked against WhisperJot's meeting implementation on August 24, 2026. Meetings and dictation share the loaded engine, so they do not run simultaneously.

Private by design

A useful transcript. Your meeting kept close.

No bot in your call

The app records locally from your microphone. No participant appears in the meeting, and nothing enters the call on WhisperJot's behalf.

On-device transcription, always

Even if you use the opt-in Jot Cloud engine for dictation, meeting audio is never streamed to the cloud. Meetings use a local model on disk.

Works offline

After the one-time local model download of about 2.3 GB, meeting transcription works without an internet connection.

Crash-safe as you go

Transcript segments persist during the meeting. After an interruption, WhisperJot finalizes the meeting at next launch and retains its audio.

Timestamped and searchable

Find past meeting transcripts locally in History. On macOS, the menu bar also shows live meeting status.

Simple exports

Export Markdown (.md) or plain text (.txt), copy timestamped lines to the clipboard, or reveal the WAV recording on disk.

The full audio recording stays on your machine. Audio retention is configurable and defaults to 90 days; transcripts are never auto-deleted. Optional cloud library sync is opt-in and syncs text, titles, and timestamps, never audio.

The honest fit

What it is — and isn't.

Best for conversations near your microphone

Use it for in-person meetings, interviews, lectures, standups in a room, and your side of calls. Meeting notes are included in the flat $99/year plan, with no per-minute caps or storage tiers and unlimited meetings within the six-hour per-meeting cap.

It records what the mic hears

WhisperJot does not join video calls or capture the other side's system audio. It does not currently provide AI summaries or speaker labels. What you get is a private, timestamped transcript you can search and export.

Questions

Straight answers about meeting notes.

Does WhisperJot join meetings as a bot?

No. WhisperJot records locally through your microphone, so nothing joins the call as a participant. It is designed for in-person meetings, interviews, lectures, standups in a room, and your side of a call.

Is meeting transcription private?

Meeting transcription always runs on-device with the local engines. The full audio recording stays on your machine. Optional cloud library sync is opt-in and syncs text, titles, and timestamps, never audio.

Does meeting transcription work offline?

Yes. After the one-time local model download of about 2.3 GB, meeting transcription works without an internet connection.

How long can a meeting be?

Each meeting has a six-hour safety cap. Meetings and dictation share the loaded transcription engine, so they do not run at the same time.

Can I export meeting notes?

Yes. Export the timestamped transcript as Markdown or plain text, or copy timestamped lines to the clipboard. You can also reveal the meeting's WAV audio file on disk.

Does WhisperJot summarize meetings?

No. WhisperJot produces a timestamped transcript that you can search locally and export. Summaries are not a current feature.
