Cloud-based, which is exactly what makes it work well: it supports the most platforms here (Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android) and a browser demo, with a generous 14-day free trial and no card required to start. The tradeoff is that your audio has to leave your device to be transcribed, and dictation stops working without an internet connection.
Genuinely privacy-conscious — it can run entirely offline on Apple Silicon, and its free tier is usable forever, not just a trial. Its paid annual plan ($84.99/yr) is a little cheaper than WhisperJot's. It does not offer a Linux build.
