Verify the selected input, listen to a short recording, and compare the Bluetooth microphone with the built-in microphone using the same engine and sentence. Change one thing at a time. Reduced headset playback quality while its microphone is active does not by itself prove a recognition problem.

Check the sound before changing the model
Apple documents that Bluetooth headphones can switch to lower-quality two-way audio while their microphone is in use. This can change what you hear. Dictation accuracy still needs a separate comparison using the actual captured speech.
- Confirm the input selected in the operating system and in the recording app.
- Record a neutral sentence and listen for missing words, dropouts, clipping, or distant speech.
- Keep the headset in the same position and close other microphone-using apps for the comparison.
Compare two inputs fairly
- Dictate the practice sentence three times with the Bluetooth input.
- Select the built-in input and repeat at a normal speaking distance.
- Keep the engine, language, cleanup settings, room, and wording unchanged. Record the mistakes for each attempt.
