Do you need custom dictation vocabulary?
Custom vocabulary is useful when you repeatedly correct the same names or technical terms. WhisperJot's Words entries store the intended spelling and optional sounds-like variants. They help with recurring recognition errors, but exact code, figures, and unfamiliar names still need review.

Match the feature to the problem
Look through a few recent dictations and list the corrections you make more than once. A vocabulary earns its maintenance cost when the same terms recur; a large list of words you seldom say is harder to evaluate.

Try a small vocabulary before building a large one
- Choose three to five names you actually dictate. Record their intended spelling and the mistaken output.
- Add Words in Vocabulary & Shortcuts. Use a sounds-like variant when appropriate, then save the entries.
- Dictate each name in a natural sentence using the same engine and cleanup settings as before.
- Compare the correction effort across several attempts. Remove or revise entries that change unrelated text.

What you are choosing
Words and Shortcuts apply even when cleanup is set to None. Choosing a rawer cleanup level does not disable your vocabulary. Keep a small baseline passage so you can tell whether a new entry improved the result.
Vocabulary is a good fit for repeated product names, fictional places, and specialist prose. It does not validate a database column, look up a customer record, or guarantee accuracy. If your terms change every day, occasional manual correction may remain the simpler workflow.

Is vocabulary the same as training a personal speech model?
No. This guide describes saved terms and correction hints. It does not promise that WhisperJot trains a separate personal acoustic model or transfers another app's learned profile.
Will vocabulary still work with cleanup set to None?
Yes. WhisperJot's documented pipeline still applies Words and Shortcuts at None. That setting skips the additional cleanup stages; it does not disable your saved entries.
