Choose whether WhisperJot runs on the local computer or inside the remote session. Test a local editor first, then the remote editor. If local dictation works, investigate the remote client's clipboard or keystroke path before changing speech engines.

Choose where transcription runs
Local speech recognition does not make the remote destination local. When text enters a remote session, it travels through that connection. Select the arrangement that matches your organization's policy and the computer that can run the app.

Test from the local editor outward
- Dictate a neutral sentence into a local plain text editor.
- Type a few characters normally into a remote scratch document to confirm it has focus.
- Copy a harmless local sentence and try manual paste remotely, if clipboard sharing is allowed.
- If manual paste fails too, inspect the remote client's permitted clipboard settings or ask its administrator. Do not change a speech model to repair a clipboard policy.
Try the appropriate insertion method
WhisperJot offers per-app insertion choices on Mac and Windows. On Mac, the documented VM and remote-desktop defaults use keystroke mode for several common clients. On Windows, per-app options include clipboard paste, Unicode keystrokes, and UI Automation. Try one change at a time in a scratch document.
Test punctuation, accented characters, and line breaks in addition to ordinary letters. Remote keyboard layouts and client handling can produce differences that a simple English sentence misses.
- Select the remote client in the per-app insertion settings where available.
- Try a supported alternative method and record whether it improves the result.
- Restore the prior setting if the new method is worse. Keep administrator and secure windows out of the test.
Questions
Do I need WhisperJot on both computers?
Not for the local-transcription workflow. WhisperJot can transcribe locally and enter text through the remote client when input is supported. Running it inside the session is a separate setup with its own requirements.
Can dictation bypass disabled clipboard sharing?
Do not use dictation to bypass a remote environment's policy. Ask the administrator which input methods are allowed, then test only those methods.
