Switch from Dragon to WhisperJot
Start by listing the Dragon features you actually use, then recreate a small vocabulary and a few text expansions in WhisperJot. Compare your normal dictation and editing tasks before switching fully. Dragon profiles, learned corrections, and command scripts are not automatically transferred by this workflow.

Inventory what needs to move
Dragon Professional 16 documents custom-word export through its Vocabulary Center. Export options and command handling depend on your edition. Keep a backup using that edition's documentation. The export is a reference here; this guide does not promise a compatible WhisperJot importer.

Recreate a representative workflow
- Install WhisperJot, grant the required permissions, and choose an engine. Complete a plain-text dictation before configuring anything else.
- Add five frequently used names as Words. Recreate one harmless boilerplate command as a text Shortcut.
- Choose a recording shortcut that does not collide with Dragon. Run only one recognizer for the comparison.
- Dictate a normal passage in the app you use most. Compare correction effort, punctuation, text insertion, and any commands you depend on.

Decide based on the full workflow
Dragon Professional desktop dictation can already run locally; moving to WhisperJot is not inherently a cloud-to-local migration. Evaluate platform support, recording controls, vocabulary, cleanup, and insertion in your own applications.
If you depend on Dragon's application commands or correction system, successful transcription alone is not enough. Keep access to your original setup until those tasks have a workable replacement. Review current plans and licenses separately from the content migration.
Questions
Can I import my Dragon profile directly?
This workflow does not provide an automatic Dragon profile import. Keep a backup, use exported words as a reference, and recreate the entries you need in WhisperJot.
Will Dragon scripts become WhisperJot shortcuts?
No. A text expansion can recreate saved prose, but a script that navigates an application or performs actions needs separate evaluation. Do not treat those as equivalent capabilities.
