Dictate useful Salesforce notes

Open the intended Salesforce record and create an enhanced Note where your organization makes Notes available. Dictate the confirmed facts, open questions, and next steps into its body. Check the note's related records and create any follow-up tasks with Salesforce's controls.

Check the record and note type

Salesforce distinguishes enhanced Notes from the older Notes & Attachments tool. Layouts and permissions affect where New Note is available. Enhanced Notes can relate to multiple records, so check the relationships rather than assuming that an account name in the body creates a link.

  1. Open the correct account, contact, lead, or opportunity and verify its identity.
  2. Use the available Notes action or Notes related list to create a note. If it is missing, check with your administrator.
  3. Add a descriptive title, focus the note body, and dictate your recap.

Separate commitments from open questions

This is an authored example, not an automatic call summary. Replace it with facts you verified. Record uncertainty explicitly instead of turning a proposed deadline or budget into a confirmed commitment.

Illustrative example — edit before using
Confirmed: The team wants to evaluate the onboarding flow with five reviewers.
Open question: Procurement has not confirmed the review date.
Our next step: Send the agreed setup instructions.
Customer next step: Confirm the reviewer list.
Follow-up task: [create separately with the verified owner and date]

Verify the saved record and follow-up

If you need a private scratch draft before anything reaches Salesforce, dictate into an approved local document first. The local speech engine does not control Salesforce autosave, record access, or organizational retention settings.

  1. Check names, dates, quantities, and any statement about a decision maker or commitment.
  2. Review the related records and applicable sharing before leaving the note. Enhanced Notes in Lightning can save automatically.
  3. Create a separate task or update structured fields when required by your process; text in the note does not update them by itself.
  4. Return to the record and confirm the note is present where you expect it.

Questions

Does saying an opportunity name link the note?

No. Dictation enters text. Use Salesforce's record relationships and confirm the selected records separately.

Will a dictated next step create a Salesforce task?

Not through this text-entry workflow. Create and assign the task with Salesforce's controls, then verify its due date and owner.
